How to Volunteer

Anyone 18 and up OR under 18 with a parent/guardian is welcome to volunteer at the Susquehanna SPCA! To get started, you will need to attend one of our monthly New Volunteer Orientations.

All orientations are at 6:00 PM at the Susquehanna SPCA. No need to RSVP or fill anything out ahead of time; you will complete a volunteer form during the orientation. Orientations include information about our shelter, descriptions of all volunteer positions, a full tour of the facilities and a Q & A session. If you cannot make an orientation or would like to start sooner, please contact our volunteer coordinator.

After the orientation, you will choose a volunteer position to start in based on your skills and interests. To read about the different positions, click here. You can work in as many areas as you’d like, but will need to be trained in one at a time. Our volunteer coordinator will set up a time for you to come in for your first training where you will shadow a staff member or an experienced volunteer. After you have been trained, you will be able to set up your own schedule. Times vary depending on position, but there are opportunities to volunteer every day of the week.

Current upcoming orientations are:
Friday, April 19
Friday, May 17
